The digital ecosystem of ESSEC is based on several distinct application components, each supported by a centralized authentication mechanism. Understanding the architecture of these portals prevents most of the blockages encountered at the start of the academic year or during a campus change.
CAS Authentication and ESSEC SSO Scope
All connections to ESSEC’s digital services go through the CAS portal (Central Authentication Service) hosted on login.essec.fr. This Single Sign-On (SSO) system manages the user session once and then propagates the authentication to various applications: MyESSEC, MyRegistrar, ERNest, and associated educational tools.
The identifier is in the format first.last (or a variant assigned by the IT department), coupled with the password set during account activation. The CAS offers a bilingual French-English interface, with GDPR mentions visible right from the login page.
We recommend checking two points before any login attempt. First, that the account has been activated via the activation email received after completing the registration file (for students) or after HR validation (for staff). Second, that the browser accepts session cookies from the essec.fr domain; otherwise, the post-CAS redirection will fail silently.
Students who wish to access the ESSEC intranet via MyESSEC will find a detailed pathway covering common login cases and password recovery.
MyRegistrar, MyESSEC, ERNest: Which Portal for What Use
The most common mistake is confusing these three interfaces. They share the same SSO but do not expose the same data or functionalities.

- MyESSEC is the main portal for student life in the broad sense: campus news, access to training pathways, links to educational tools, and documentary resources.
- MyRegistrar, accessible at essec.myintranet.online, is the registrar’s intranet. It concentrates administrative procedures: updating personal information, consulting the account statement (global or by academic year), downloading certificates. Access is only granted after receiving the email “Registration file completed.”
- ERNest functions as a knowledge base and helpdesk. Students and staff find help articles, ticket forms, and guides for resolving technical incidents.
A first-time user attempting to access MyRegistrar from MyESSEC before completing their registration will receive an access denial. This is not a bug: the link between the two systems only activates once the complete file is validated by the registrar.
Multi-Campus Connection: Cergy, La Défense, Singapore, Rabat
ESSEC has structured its intranet to operate in a multi-campus context. Internal documentation mentions an explicit “double campus” use case between Singapore and Cergy, with a dedicated help page on ERNest titled “My Registrar intranet double campus.”
In practice, the CAS account remains the same regardless of the physical campus. Geographic location does not affect access rights, provided that the ESSEC VPN is used if the local network imposes restrictions (a common case in Singapore on certain corporate or residential networks).
For staff assigned to multiple sites, the MyRegistrar profile reflects the campus of administrative attachment. A campus change during the year requires an update via the “My Profile” tab on essec.myintranet.online, followed by validation on the registrar’s side.
Display Language and Regional Preferences
The MyRegistrar interface offers a visible French-English selector right from the portal’s homepage. This language choice is persistent: it remains active from one session to the next as long as the domain cookies are not purged. International students on the Singapore or Rabat campus switch to English without having to modify their CAS account.
Resolving Common Blockages at ESSEC Intranet Login
The majority of tickets opened on ERNest concern three recurring scenarios.
The first is the attempt to log in before account activation. The CAS then returns a generic error that does not specify the origin of the problem. The solution is simple: wait for the confirmation email of registration, then follow the activation link it contains.
The second concerns password reset. The procedure goes through the “Forgot Password” link on the CAS page, which sends a reset email to the address provided during registration. If this address is no longer accessible, a ticket must be opened on ERNest by providing an identity document.
The third relates to session conflicts between browsers or tabs. The CAS SSO manages a unique token per session. Opening MyESSEC and MyRegistrar simultaneously in two different browsers can cause a looping disconnection. We recommend using a single browser with multiple tabs and clearing the cache if the problem persists.

Best Practices for Staff
Administrative and teaching staff access the same portals, but their rights differ. The staff profile on MyRegistrar provides access to specific modules (grade management, administrative tracking of supervised students). The initial login requires a separate activation via HR, independent of the student procedure.
In case of a job change or contract termination, the CAS account is deactivated according to a timeline defined by the institution’s IT security policy. Anticipating the recovery of personal documents stored on MyRegistrar before the end date of the assignment avoids corrective steps with the helpdesk.
The SSO architecture of ESSEC simplifies daily access once the account is correctly activated. The difficulty almost always lies in the initial phase, between receiving the credentials and the first effective login to MyRegistrar. Checking the status of the registration file on ERNest remains the most reliable reflex before opening a support ticket.
